The American Legion Post 106, in conjunction with the Trenton Arts Council,is presenting an event on Friday, February 5th, at the American Legion Post in downtown Trenton.
The event is a fundraiser for SPC Farmer, presently serving in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, he has been burglarized at home. Everything he owns, including his clothing, has been stolen. Through this show of support, SPC Farmer can return home feeling not what has happened TO him, but, rather, what has happened FOR him. Through a live interactive video feed from Afghanistan he will be present at the show.
A two part event has been organized for Friday, Feb. 5th at 7pm. Doors will open at 6pm. SPC Farmer will open the event with an introduction via live video feed.
The first act will be The Trenton Arts Council Beatnik Poets accompanied by the improvising jazz band, the “Undoctored Originals”.
The second act will be music by the bluegrass band, “The Big Woods Band”, based on Sand Mountain.
The beatnik poets are a part of a legend as much as bluegrass is part of a legend, With this event, the legends intertwine, There will be an intermission of interactive discussion with SPC Farmer through the video feed. The evening will close with an old-fashioned Southern bluegrass pickins’ circle.
